Thoughtful food. Great music. Shared experience.
Zenbarn stands in a building deeply rooted in Waterbury’s history.
Originally constructed as a dairy barn as part of the Guptil Farm, the structure supported one of the town’s longstanding agricultural families. The Guptils still live just across the street and are well known locally for operating a race car shop and for their success in regional racing reflecting the entrepreneurial spirit that defines this community. In the late 1980s, the barn was converted into a restaurant.
A Historic Vermont Gathering Place
One of its early chapters was Golden Horn East. In 1989, it became Tanglewoods Restaurant & Bar, founded by Carl and Diane Huber. For more than 25 years, Tanglewoods hosted weddings, birthdays, and family celebrations before closing in 2014 when the Hubers retired.
In 2016, the Fishman family acquired the property with a vision: honor the legacy and build a new gathering place centered around music and community.
